Reminders don't ring, or come late

Reminders are scheduled on your phone, so they work without internet, but the phone has to allow them. In MedTogether, Settings → Reminders shows what's allowed, and Send a test reminder lets you check: lock your phone and wait 5 seconds.

iPhone

  • Settings → Notifications → MedTogether: turn on Allow Notifications.
  • A Focus (such as Sleep or Do Not Disturb) can hide reminders. Add MedTogether to its allowed apps.

Android

  • Notifications: allow them for MedTogether.
  • Alarms & reminders: allow it, so reminders ring at the exact minute instead of late. Settings → Apps → MedTogether → Alarms & reminders.
  • Battery: set MedTogether's battery use to Unrestricted (or "No restrictions"), so the phone doesn't pause it.

Some phone makers add their own battery savers. The app shows you these when you first open it; you can also change them yourself:

  • Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO: turn on Autostart (Apps › MedTogether › Autostart), and set Battery saver to No restrictions (Apps › MedTogether › Battery saver).
  • Huawei, Honor: set App launch to Manage manually (Battery › App launch › MedTogether), and allow background activity.
  • Oppo: turn on Auto launch (Apps › Auto launch › MedTogether), and allow background activity.
  • Vivo: turn on Autostart (Apps › Permissions › Autostart › MedTogether), and allow high background power use.
  • Samsung: set Battery to Unrestricted, and keep MedTogether out of Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps.

Still missing?

  • Open MedTogether every few days. The app schedules reminders for the days ahead, and tops them up each time it opens.
  • Signing out stops reminders on that phone until you sign in again.
  • Check the medicine isn't paused, and that its schedule and end date are what you expect.

Ring like an alarm

  • For a medicine you mustn't miss, edit it and turn on Ring like an alarm under Reminders. Its doses ring through silent mode and show on the lock screen until you answer: Taken, Snooze 10 min or Skip. It's free.
  • The app asks once to allow alarms. If they aren't allowed, that medicine's reminders come as time-sensitive notifications until you allow them in Settings. On iPhone, alarms need iOS 26 or later.

Family

  • A family is one group, owned by the person with Premium: you and up to 5 family members. Only the owner invites: Settings → Family → Invite someone, then send the link or let them scan the QR code with their camera. Each invite works once and expires after 7 days.
  • They need the MedTogether app and an account. Joining is free. Someone who is already in a family leaves it first, then opens the invite again.
  • Under What I share, each person has two switches about their own medicines: Share my medicines with family (on unless you turn it off) and Let family make changes (off unless you turn it on). Everyone in the family who shares sees each other's medicines and day. Only you can change your switches.
  • Missed-dose alerts: tap a family member to choose whether you get alerts about them. An alert comes when a dose hasn't been marked 30 minutes after it was due, and shows the time in your own time zone.
  • Remind: open someone's day and tap Remind to send them a reminder. Anyone in the family can remind anyone else, at most once every 15 minutes per person.
  • The family is full at 5 family members, open invites included. To invite someone new, remove someone or cancel an invite.
  • Anyone can leave the family at any time. The owner can remove someone, or end the family. Nobody's medicines are deleted: each person keeps their own.
  • The name you give a family member is a private nickname: only you see it.

Premium and family coverage

  • Free covers up to 3 medicines, with every other feature included, Ring like an alarm too. Premium adds more medicines and family.
  • The owner's Premium covers everyone in the family, so nobody else needs their own.
  • Buy or restore Premium in Settings → Premium. Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play.
  • Cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel it.
  • Reminders never stop because of your plan. If Premium ends, the medicines you have keep reminding you; you just can't add more than 3. Family features keep working for 14 days, then sharing, missed-dose alerts and Remind pause until the owner renews. Nothing is deleted, and everyone stays in the family.

Time zones and travel

  • Settings → Time zone is Automatic by default and follows your phone. Pick a time zone there, and your reminders, Today and History stay on it even when the phone is set to another one.
  • Family see your doses in your time zone. Missed-dose alerts show the time in the receiver's own time zone.

Widgets

  • Next dose shows your next dose with a Take button; Today shows how many doses you've taken and what's next. On iPhone, add them to the Home Screen or Lock Screen; on Android, to the home screen.
  • If a widget asks you to open MedTogether, open the app once so it can update the widget.

Report for your doctor

  • In History, share a PDF of the last 7 days, 30 days or 3 months. Choose which medicines it includes, and whether to include notes and missed doses. The report says which time zone its times are in.

Languages

MedTogether follows your phone's language: English, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese or Chinese. Family alerts arrive in each person's own language.

Changing a past dose

  • In History, tap a day, then tap a dose to mark it taken, skipped or not taken, or to change the time you took it. This works up to 60 days back.
  • On Today, touch and hold a dose to mark it Taken, or Taken earlier at the time you took it.

Using it offline

  • Reminders still come, and you can answer them from the notification.
  • The app shows what was last synced. To add or change medicines, connect to the internet.
  • Signing in needs the internet once.

Deleting your account

Settings → Profile → Delete account. See what's deleted, and how to ask us if you can't use the app.
